When I wanted to get into drifting I bought a Hpi Sprint 2 Flux AWD to learn to drift. After about a month of practicing in the driveway I decided to take it to the local drift track which is located at Prolevel RC. While I was there I drifted some 2wd cars and liked them better. So I bought a Yokomo YD-2.
After the arrival of the YD-2 the Hpi just sat on the shelf. A friend of mine always liked the Hpi Sprint 2 and always wanted a touring car so when I decided to sell it he bought it. After him having it for about a week we both headed to Prolevel RC to do some drifting. He also brought the touring car tires so we could run it on the road course there.
Now mind you all we did was change the tires, because we were drifting the front was still running tow out, which is normal for drifting. We were both amazed at how fast it was and it handled pretty well considering that it was actually setup for drifting.
We took the body off and put the gps on it to see if we could get a reading on the top speed, the times your hearing are for cars on the offroad track. The gps wouldn’t work in the building so we weren’t able to get a top speed. In the end I came barreling out of the back turn and hit the side boards breaking the C hub. That was the end of running laps with the touring cars for that day. There’s always next time. Might have to take the rally car up there some night.
